Running the Telenor Copenhagen Marathon this year?

If you’re one of the hard-as-nails runners planning to run the full 42.195 km between Copenhagen and Frederiksberg this year, you’ll already know that the Copenhagen Marathon is set to be extra special this year. This’ll be the 40th Copenhagen Marathon since the first run around the streets of the Danish capital back in 1980.

To make sure you’re fully prepared for the Telenor Copenhagen Marathon 2019, Hotel Copenhagen Island is going that extra mile for its guests, both before and after the run. You can be at the start area and back at the hotel from the finish line in no time. What’s more important, the hotel will be offering just the right food you need both before and after the race, so you can put all your energy into running a great marathon.

Benefits when staying at Copenhagen Island

Runners in this year’s Copenhagen Marathon can have that extra edge when they stay at the Copenhagen Island Hotel:

• A fabulous morning buffet designed for runners on Sunday, 19 May 2019, available from 6 am.
• An energy buffet after the race on 19 May 2019, including water, juice, fruit and chocolate.
• Late check-out on Sunday, 19 May 2019 until 6 pm, giving guests all the time they need to rest and shower after the race.

Copenhagen Island is ideally located for both the start and the finish area and, on its doorstep, there are lots of good places to run along the water’s edge.

The Telenor Copenhagen Marathon is for everyone

15-20 years ago, a marathon was just for elite runners - out of the league of the average jogger. But that’s not the case anymore.

With a dramatic rise in the number of people who run to keep fit, more and more of us have drummed up the courage to sweat out the 42.195 km and go for the finish line.

This is also reflected in the numbers taking part, with the 14,000 people on the Copenhagen asphalt in May 2014 (the first race in 1980 attracted some 1000 runners). The spectrum of runners ranges right through from elite runners, who need only two and a half hours to complete the distance, to 75-year-old keep fit enthusiasts, who raise their arms in victory after a six-hour battle to the finish line.

Overnight stay with a marathon diet in Copenhagen

Like any other army, an army of runners marches on its stomach. The old proverb still holds good when it comes to marathon running, and naturally Copenhagen Island is prepared.

Runners can choose from a number of delicious and nutritious pasta dishes for dinner the day before the race. And, on the day, breakfast, prepared of course to meet the precise needs of a marathon runner, will be served from 6 am, giving it time to be digested before the race.

Once the victory medal is hanging around your neck, you can enjoy an energy buffet back at the hotel. With fruit, chocolate, water, juice, and more on offer, your body will be well on its way to recovery. What's more, you don’t need to push your tired body to leave, as checking out is free right through till 6 pm.
