Copenhagen Island, a modern and stylish hotel with 326 rooms, is located in the pulsating neighbourhood Vesterbro. It lies right on the waterfront, offering excellent views of either Copenhagen’s harbour or across the city’s roofs and towers. The entire area around the hotel is buzzing with life and especially Islands Brygge and Kødbyen are well worth a visit when you’re staying in Copenhagen.
Whether you arrive from Copenhagen’s Kastrup airport, the Central Railway Station or Dybbølsbro local S-train station, Copenhagen Island is the perfect starting point for your visit. Travelling from the airport takes only 15-20 minutes by taxi and if arriving by inter-city train, it takes just 15 minutes to walk to the hotel from the Central Railway Station. Even closer is Dybbølsbro S-train station, lying right in front of the hotel and less than a 5 minute walk away! See our website here for more information!
There are endless possibilities for activities around the hotel – all within walking or cycling distance. Bicycles are available for hire at the hotel and are an easy way of getting around.
The harbour swimming baths are an obvious choice in the summer season. There are 3 public swimming baths in Copenhagen’s harbour with one right outside the Copenhagen Island hotel. These public swimming facilities are all manned by qualified lifeguards throughout the summer months.
A number of designated exercise routes are to be found all around the harbour waterfront and in the local neighbourhood and they are ideal for walking, jogging or cycling. Small motorboats can be hired from Copenhagen Boat Rent on the quayside alongside the hotel, allowing you to explore the harbour and canals from the water itself.
Copenhagen Mall (Fisketorvet) is next door to the hotel and offers a first class shopping experience with a huge variety of shops and specialised stores, cafés and restaurants together with a multi-screen cinema, all under one roof.
The trendy venue Kødbyen is located centrally in Vesterbro with cafés, bars, restaurants and night clubs all established in the redundant slaughterhouse buildings. The restaurants rule from midday until late evening, whereupon the bars and clubs take over for the night. There’s a fantastic atmosphere at the old abattoir and Kødbyen attracts both the locals and visitors to the city.
Our own restaurant, The Harbour, is recommended in the Michelin guide and is open 365 days a year. Enjoy fabulous views over the harbour waters whilst high-class international cuisine is being served. During the summer months, meals are also available outdoors on the quayside terrace, taking advantage of the cosy atmosphere along the harbour waterfront. Check The Harbour’s own website here for further information!
